Good bye Kaida

It has been 2 years since I have posted anything.  Sadly, Kaida passed away this fall.  She became sick, and within 2 days, passed away.  I miss her and I think my people do too.

Here are some photos of her in the last couple of years.

I always would take the box to sit in, since I love boxes-she waited patiently for me to be done in the box and then she would take her turn.

and here she is -again waiting patiently.  She was much more patient than I am.

she loved to rest this way on her back...she was cute when she did it.

she rested on everything, if you put something down, she would climb up onto it, claiming it for a bed to rest on. 

she also liked to curl up like this and rest on the couch-where it was soft.  She was cute.

our owners only gives us a bath once a year, I guess that is a lot better than other cats have to go thru.  She never minded her bath, I on the other hand would cry and cry.

she always sat outside the door and would wait for me until my bath was done. she wanted to be sure I was ok.

this is me after my bath, I hate baths, and I would not sit outside the door waiting for her bath to be over...no way

here she is resting again...she rested a lot in the last year of her life.

Relaxing On The Farm

The older Todd gets the more lazy he becomes.  Here he is seen relaxing around the farm, waiting on me to hook up the tractor to this little trailer and take him for a ride...he thinks hes so cute...

Todd Gets Into Trouble

He thinks he is cute...

Does this color match my eyes?

Here he is, playing with the yarn as the farmers wife if crocheting.  That means he is in trouble.  

and as he turned to go play with string cat toy that the farmer is trying to use to distract him from the ball of yarn, Todd only rolls with the ball of yarn, and tangles himself up.

So what do you get when you add a Todd to a heater?

Todd is on the Hunt...

Well, Todd is out hunting.  As Scott and I sat eating supper I heard this terrible screaming going on...the sound that most people do not know or have ever heard...a bunny. Yes, a bunny makes a sound....it is a horrible scream.  Very shrill and will go on and on when threatened.  

I said to Scott, "where is Todd?  I hear a bunny..." I looked out of the front window, nothing.  So I went to the back door, which stood open, only a screen door separating me and the noise I heard...As I touched the screen door, Todd came running from his hidden spot, up the steps with a bunny in his mouth.  I stopped him-it was clear that he was thinking he would bring the half alive creature into my home...no Todd, not gonna happen.  

 

 He looked shocked that I would stop him.  He then ran to another area, and the bunny was placed on the ground.  It suddenly came to life, and ran....hiding in the grass (as seen here)

 

So  Todd just sat there waiting, doing the hunt thing, as the poor bunny tried to hide.  Finally Todd decided he would 'hunt again' and the bunny ran off, trying to hide behind the fence...

Well soon the bunny was on the run, around the fence, with Todd running right behind it, and back to the fence again, thinking he was hiding from the cat, but Todd kept up, and so the bunny was off-- running across the drive way and farther ahead of the cat, (see the bunny by the wood -sort of under the swing set area in the photo-  and the cat further behind around in the  bushes.....)

 

Well the bunny ran but Todd caught up and grabbed it again. For a minute, I thought the bunny had a chance. But then- I again heard the cry...

As Todd carried the bunny back to the safe area (he thinks it is safe anyway) of the house, the crying bunny got the attention of its mother.  From the corner of my eye, I see the mother running full speed towards the young bunny to save it.  But, she stops, looks at the cat with her baby in its mouth, and she freezes.  Todd looks at her for a long time, I could almost hear him thinking, hummmm young bunny-small meal---big bunny-large meal....the mother bunny turned and ran the other direction, sacrificing her child to the save her life.... Todd is in Hiding! Bath Day Approaches...Kaida content ...

TODD has been in hiding, while Kaida continues to be content with that fact.  It is Spring and time for the spring bath...Does Todd know that ???? Is that why he is hiding???
