Todd is on the Hunt...

Well, Todd is out hunting.  As Scott and I sat eating supper I heard this terrible screaming going on...the sound that most people do not know or have ever heard...a bunny. Yes, a bunny makes a sound....it is a horrible scream.  Very shrill and will go on and on when threatened.  

I said to Scott, "where is Todd?  I hear a bunny..." I looked out of the front window, nothing.  So I went to the back door, which stood open, only a screen door separating me and the noise I heard...As I touched the screen door, Todd came running from his hidden spot, up the steps with a bunny in his mouth.  I stopped him-it was clear that he was thinking he would bring the half alive creature into my home...no Todd, not gonna happen.  

 

 He looked shocked that I would stop him.  He then ran to another area, and the bunny was placed on the ground.  It suddenly came to life, and ran....hiding in the grass (as seen here)

 

So  Todd just sat there waiting, doing the hunt thing, as the poor bunny tried to hide.  Finally Todd decided he would 'hunt again' and the bunny ran off, trying to hide behind the fence...

Well soon the bunny was on the run, around the fence, with Todd running right behind it, and back to the fence again, thinking he was hiding from the cat, but Todd kept up, and so the bunny was off-- running across the drive way and farther ahead of the cat, (see the bunny by the wood -sort of under the swing set area in the photo-  and the cat further behind around in the  bushes.....)

 

Well the bunny ran but Todd caught up and grabbed it again. For a minute, I thought the bunny had a chance. But then- I again heard the cry...

As Todd carried the bunny back to the safe area (he thinks it is safe anyway) of the house, the crying bunny got the attention of its mother.  From the corner of my eye, I see the mother running full speed towards the young bunny to save it.  But, she stops, looks at the cat with her baby in its mouth, and she freezes.  Todd looks at her for a long time, I could almost hear him thinking, hummmm young bunny-small meal---big bunny-large meal....the mother bunny turned and ran the other direction, sacrificing her child to the save her life....
